We had a little flooding here about 2 weeks ago after all that rain. We've been in this house for about 17 years and this was the first time it ever happened. It was quite an unpleasant surprise on Mother's day night! It took Tom and I from about 10 pm - 3 am to get all the carpet torn out and the water mopped up. I could not believe what we found under all that old carpet:
Is that the most crazy making floor you have ever seen? It must be the original 1040's era floor that was installed when the house was built.
Most of the floor is down upstairs and the walls are all painted. I wish I could get a shot of the whole thing, but hopefully this will give you and idea of what the bedroom looks like. The view above is the front side of the room (where the dormers are. ) The picture below is the back side. I am totally in love with the floor. I cannot believe how beautiful it looks!
This is the spot in the kitchen where the heat & AC ductwork was added. I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do about the paint on this—I don't have any more of the border paper, so I may just paint the whole thing to match the top part of the wall. Or I may end up redoing the kitchen. Any suggestions?
We are living in chaos here! But it is happy chaos.
