The main areas are almost done

Start the tour going up the new stairs from the main floor.

The hall at the top of the stairs. The door is up on the little storage closet on the left.

Continue the tour, past the new "his and hers" clothes closets.

Here's the inside view of a closet.

And back down the new stairs. (aren't they pretty?)

We just need to finish the bathroom and we are DONE!

Today is the two week anniversary of starting the attic

…and the bedroom is almost finished!

Most of the floor is down upstairs and the walls are all painted. I wish I could get a shot of the whole thing, but hopefully this will give you and idea of what the bedroom looks like. The view above is the front side of the room (where the dormers are. ) The picture below is the back side.
I am totally in love with the floor. I cannot believe how beautiful it looks!

The floors are going down

This is the bedroom floor. It looks really pretty!

These are our closets.

Our whole house is a mess!

This is the spot in the kitchen where the heat & AC ductwork was added. I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do about the paint on this—I don't have any more of the border paper, so I may just paint the whole thing to match the top part of the wall. Or I may end up redoing the kitchen. Any suggestions?

We are living in chaos here! But it is happy chaos.

Something to listen to while you look at the pictures

You can call me Bruce

We picked up the material for the floors yesterday—29 boxes altogether. Here is a sample of what it looks like:

I think they are going to start installing it today. I'll definitely have more pictures once they start putting it in.

This link should take you to the Duron page with our paint color. It is called Icelandic.

Let there be light!

The lights and electricity went in yesterday, so now hopefully my pictures will be a little less dark.

This is the view looking up the stairs towards the landing.

This is the hall and the landing seen from the bedroom. The landing light and the hall lights are the same style, just different sizes. The one at the landing is a little bigger version of the hall lights. Here is one up close:

We found the tiniest ceiling fan in the world for the bedroom. It is only 32" across, but it fits perfectly in the peak of the ceiling. Here is a close up:

The exciting world of…Plumbing!

It's so exciting that my hands were shaking when I took all of these blurry pictures of our future bathroom.

This is where the sink will go.

This is where the toilet will go.

These two are of the shower area.

This isn't plumbing, but it is in the bathroom. It's the vent for the fan.

Now, wasn't that exciting!

The bedroom is starting to take shape

Here is the bedroom front window.

Then if you turn around you see the back wall of the bedroom.

Then turn to the right and here is the hall, taken from the bedroom. The door to the bathroom is on the left. The window at the top of the stairs is in the background.

Walls!

On the left is the beginning of the closet (it is between the two dormers on the front side of the house.) In the rear is the bedroom, on the right is the half wall at the top of the stairs. We actually have a floor, now, too!

This is taken from the bedroom. On the left is the door to the bathroom and the half-wall at the top of the stairs.

One of the dormers in the bedroom.

The framing is started

Here are a few more of the beginning stage.

Above, is the half wall at the top of the stairs, the door to the bathroom and the first bedroom wall. The picture is taked from the top of the stairs.

The same half wall, bathroom door and wall seen from the other direction. This is taken while standing in the bedroom.

This Picture is Kind of Scary

Doesn't the house look weird without any windows?

The beginning of the project

A blog seemed like the best way to show you how things are coming along with our house renovation. Here are some before pictures.

Here is the front with the old windows. The roof and the gutters are new. Note the fabulous Ohio State flag and all our attic junk on the front porch. I know our neighbors loved us for this look.

Here are a few views of the attic before any work was started. Its too tight a space to get a good view of the whole room, so I took a few different views.

The photo above was taken from the top of the stairs looking toward the bedroom side of the attic.

This is the opposite view, taken from the bedroom end. The old windows have been taken out in this shot, you can see the new ones on the left, ready to go in. That's Tom popping up the stairs to say hello.
